Listen up! Learn How To Rule The World

The quiet road spools out in front of the car’s headlights. Despite the low growl of the engine pulling him ever forward, to the driver the road seems more anonymous than ever. The journey longer than he remembers it. The moonless night is darker than normal. Perhaps it’s the fact that the streetlights aren’t working. Are there streetlights this far out in the country?

The only real light in the car is from the dashboard. The driver, struggling to stay awake, vaguely remembers having put a chocolate bar into the cubby hole. He leans across to open the cover. It sticks, so he gives it a thump.

“Have I got your attention now?” A dark, disembodied voice is loud in the quiet car.

The steering wheel jerks in the driver’s hands. Gravel on the side of the road spits as he wrestles the car back onto the road. What the hell?

But there’s no one in the back seat.

With a nervous laugh, he realises that his arm must have hit the power button on the car’s infotainment system.

“I know I do,” the voice continues, “because if I hadn’t, you would have stopped listening to me. And you want to listen to me. You need to listen to me. How do I know that? Because you bought my audio book. I know what you’re thinking, ‘What’s in it for me?’ Good question. That’s up to you. There’s all the guidance you need in this audiobook! It’s how you use it that matters.

Now is the time to decide. When you arrive at your destination, or before you turn out the light tonight, make the right choice, and you, my friend, could rule the world.”

If I were making a movie of my book, this is one of the scenarios I’d suggest to the scriptwriter or the director. Why? Because storytelling is wired into us as humans. And I love movies. We have been telling stories since Day One. It was the Greek philosopher, Plato, that said, “Those that tell stories, rule the world”.

But this is not a movie. This is a blog about the release of my audio book. In 2021, my book Rule The World – Master The Power Of Storytelling To Inspire, Influence And Succeed was released on Amazon as a paperback, and as an ebook on Kindle. It was an immediate international best-seller!

My audiobook doesn’t start the same way as in the scenario above, but the launch snuck up on me with just as much shock. Suddenly, the audiobook was out there, in the world, ready for purchase. There was no going back.

What is the book about?

It made sense to also release the book as an audiobook which I narrate. It made sense because without good guidance, neither you nor your company will reach your goals. Whether we like it not, as humans we tell each other stories all the time. The better quality stories we tell, the more successful we are in life and in business. In fact, the common factor between inspiring leaders, influential marketeers, and great salespeople is that they inspire action in the people around them by telling well-told stories.

There is an element of art to a well-told story, but behind the art is a great deal of craft. And, with the right guidance, a bit like a satnav guiding you from ‘a’ to ‘b’ craft can be learned. That means storytelling can be learned, practiced, and perfected.

In this audiobook, I tell you…

  • Why storytelling is so powerful.
  • How to structure your story for maximum impact.
  • How to engage emotionally and create a connection with your audience.
  • How to take your storytelling to the next level.
  • How to collect stories.
  • How to ensure that storytelling permeates your entire organization to shape its culture and perception.

What difference could you make if people hung on your every word every time you spoke? How different would your world be if your marketing was more influential? And if you closed more sales and earned more commission, what would your life look like? Good storytelling is the key.

The audiobook is now available on Audible, while the paperback and ebook are available on Amazon.
